Large Triangular Litter Pan

All of them have had their litter pans upgraded to larger ones. I use two types. One of them is the Marukan MR-314.

Here’s what it looks like:

I know this is blur, but you still can see the grids of the Litter Pan

The add on hooks are taped to the bottom of the Litter Pan when you purchase it. All you need to do is to remove it before you use it.

Product dimensions/measurements:
W395×D245×H225mm

What we like about the MR-314:
It is a lot bigger and deeper compared to the AB Seton (GEX) litter pans and it’s still triangular in shape. It is flexible such that it allows us to choose if we want to secure the pan to the cage/playpen by screwing it to the grids or by hooking it on.

Being bigger in capacity, it means that the litter pan will easily last two rabbits a day or two before we clear the litter pan without overflowing. Bun-buns are less likely to get dirty paws or butt when the litter pan has filled too fast. Also, we can safely put in more layers of newspapers and bedding without worrying about having lesser space in the tray for the poop and still be able to soak up the pee. Also, with a deeper tray, their fur is less likely to stick through the grill onto the pee and poo.

Overall, the litter pan is easy to clean as well. The grill is easy to remove as well for cleaning.

What we didn’t quite like:
The downside about it is that you can’t choose to use the hooks to hook and screw the litter pan to the grids of the cage/playpen at the same time. It’s either one or the other. We’ve got bunnies that like to pull the litter pan, so additional security could help. However, we solved that by drilling holes to allow us to use wires to help secure the pan.

Hay!

Now that we’ve got 11 bun-buns, we’ve been sourcing for places which sells fresh hay for a reasonable prices.

We now buy our pet supplies from these two pet shops:
1. http://thepetemporium.com.sg/ (You can visit their estore @ http://thepetemporium.com.sg/catalog/)

2. http://www.doggyfriend.com/

Both sell stuff at very reasonable prices and both do delivery.

The Pet Emporium has grooming services as well. The best part is that they do bunny grooming as well as boarding!

Okay, back to the hay part. I buy hay by the bales because my bunnies really eat quite a lot of hay.

Here’s the calculation:
11 of them finish 4kg (4 kilograms = 8.818 490 487 4 lb, lbs) per week.
Generally, 3 months is about 13 weeks (some months have 5 weeks).
So, in 13 weeks, I’ll need 52kg (52 kilogram = 114.640 376 34 lb, lbs) of hay.

Each Oxbow bale of hay is 50lbs. So if I were to order hay by the bales every three months, I’ll need 2 bales and some smaller packs.

One thing that I’m very glad is that hay is a staple food for bunnies and my bunnies are happily eating the hay. :) That’s really good because hay is indeed good for their health. =)

There are a few places in Singapore where you can buy hay by the bale (although it may not be oxbow hay and the size can differ). They are:

Tugs’ New Trick

Tugs can jump up my bed. *aragh* He better not make it a habit. Especially since it’s a white new year for him. -________________-

In fact, Caramel, Funshines, Hugs and Soufflé are also moulting. I hate it when they all moult at the same time. Now, I’m so tempted to try out the furminator on them (Thanks to advice given) however, I’m hesitating. Waiting for the Birthday Discount month to get because it’ll be more worth it then. Plus I cannot actually decide what size is good since there are 7 of them…

A new box…

There’s a box which I got from the veggie seller to either use as a hay box or a nest box. Here’s what it looks like. The crate-like box was used as packaging for Asparagus. :D
